Meet Greggor

In 2020, Greggor was elected as a Hawaiʻi State Representative in District 4. Although he has only just completed his freshman year in the state House of Representatives, he has already inspired his constituents to more actively engage in the legislative process.

It was evident by the increase in the number of testimonials submitted during the most recent Legislative session. In addition, he was able to pass six bills that he sponsored in his short tenure.

Greggor was born in Misamis Occidental, under the region of Northern Mindanao in the Philippines. His biological father was an engineer from Nueva Ecija, located in the Central Luzon region, and his maternal grandfather was a protestant pastor, where he served multiple barrios, towns and in different provinces.

His mother met his step-father as pen pals, where they wrote letters to each other across the world. At the age of 7, Greggor’s first airplane ride was with his mother from the Philippines to Hawaiʻi, where they lived with his step-father at the Panaewa agricultural park.

Greggor served his Country as an Airman in the Hawaiʻi Air National Guard. He enlisted in 2004 after he graduated from Waiakea High School. Stationed in Hilo, he began his military training under the 291st Combat Communications Squadron. Their mission is to perform Combat Communications. This involves deploying, operating and maintaining strategic emergency communications anywhere in the world in both peacetime and combat environments. Greggor’s job was to handle satellite, wideband and telemetry systems.

He later transferred to the 180th Fighter Wing and was stationed at Toledo Air National Guard Base in Ohio. Their primary mission is the Fighter mission, which involves air-to-air and air-to-ground operations designed to support ground forces and to gain control of enemy airspace. After 6 years of military service as a guardsman, Greggor felt it was time to come back to Hawaiʻi.

In 2012, Greggor was elected as the youngest Councilmember for the County of Hawaiʻi. As a young Councilmember, Greggor knew he had to learn about issues at the roots level and worked directly with the community in order to make impactful change. That led him to riding the bus every day so that he could successfully push a new bus route into Hawaiian Paradise Park.

Also, Greggor spearheaded a 20-acre community park to be built in three phases in Hawaiian Paradise Park. It would include a covered pavilion, restrooms, paths, a playground and dog park are listed as part of phase one, followed by covered play courts, ball fields, skate park and additional parking in phases two and three. He is still pushing for it to be built.

In 2021, Greggor started the Puna Community Cleanup to encourage the community to come together to keep Puna beautiful. Together, they filled over 100 trash bags to keep the roadways in Puna clean.

He stays focused on serving his community – in December 2021, Greggor hosted Puna’s first annual “12 Days of Town Halls” to hear directly from the community about how he can served them at the Hawaiʻi State Legislature.

Outside of work, Greggor loves to grow food for both him and his girlfriend, Nicky.
